MetroRail Red Line

Capital Metro’s MetroRail Red Line is a  26-mile line offering comfortable and reliable service between the City of Leander and downtown Austin. An additional lines is proposed to connect downtown with Manor and Elgin.  For a full map, schedule and tickets, visit Capital Metro’s website.

Downtown Station

The Downtown Station is conveniently located outside the Austin Convention Center on 4th St. between Neches & Trinity. Learn more

When it Runs

Monday-Thursday:  during morning and evening rush hours. Hourly during midday. The last train leaves downtown at 6:25 p.m.

Friday: Approximately every 35 minutes during morning and evening rush hours. Hourly during midday and following the evening rush hour. The last train leaves downtown at 12:25 a.m.

Saturday: Approximately every 35 minutes from late afternoon until late night. The last train leaves downtown at 12:03 a.m.

There are nine MetroRail stations, with routes beginning and ending downtown.

What It Costs

Single trips start at $2. Buy a ticket or value pass at any MetroRail station or ahead of time at the Capital Metro website, at the Transit Store or at retail outlets around town.

Park and Ride: The Leander, Lakeline and Howard stations have Park & Ride lots that allow you to drive in and leave your car at the station.

Take the Bus: MetroBuses stops at many MetroRail stations.

Bike and Ride: Bikes are always welcome on MetroRail, on racks or in the standing room section.
